Dr. Mueller began his career in the life science industry in 1969, at Sandoz Inc., now part of Novartis, where he was initially involved in biostatistics and then several other functions including new product planning, licensing and business development.   He rose from a manager to Vice-President of the company prior to his departure in 1985.  From 1985 to1993, Dr. Mueller served as Executive Vice President, President and Chief Executive Officer of Nova Pharmaceutical Corporation, now part of Scios, Inc.  From 1993 to 2004, Dr. Mueller worked for Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, where he managed the completion of hundreds of transactions as Senior Vice President of Global Business Development.

Upon his retirement in 2004, Dr. Mueller began a consultative career, providing services for a number of private life science companies.

Dr. Mueller received his Ph.D. in Actuarial Sciences and Math from the University of Bern, Switzerland and is a graduate of Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Program.

Dr. Mueller currently serves on the Board of Directors for TransMolecular, Inc., Othera Pharmaceuticals and Catena Pharmaceuticals and previously served on the Board of Directors for SCOLR Pharma, Inc. and Hypnion, Inc.
